The ENIGMA-Anxiety working group aims to improve our understanding of anxiety disorders via large-scale collaborative neuroimaging. The working group is led by prof. dr. Dan Stein and dr. Nynke Groenewold (UCT, Cape Town, South Africa) and prof. dr. Nic van der Wee and dr. Janna Marie Bas-Hoogendam (LUMC/Leiden University, Leiden, the Netherlands).

The working group has four subgroups dedicated to distinct anxiety disorders, which are listed below.

• Generalized Anxiety Disorder, led by prof. dr. Daniel S. Pine and dr. Anderson Winkler (NIMH, Bethesda, MD, USA)
• Panic Disorder, led by prof. dr. Dick Veltman and dr. Moji Aghajani (Amsterdam UMC, Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Leiden University, Leiden, the Netherlands)
• Social Anxiety Disorder, led by dr. Nynke Groenewold and prof. dr. Dan Stein (UCT, Cape Town, South Africa) and dr. Janna Marie Bas-Hoogendam and prof. dr. Nic van der Wee (LUMC/Leiden University, Leiden, the Netherlands)
• Specific Phobia, led by prof. dr. Ulrike Lueken and dr. Kevin Hilbert (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Berlin, Germany)

In addition, a new subgroup on Behavioral Inhibition was recently established, led by dr. Janna Marie Bas-Hoogendam (Leiden University, Leiden, the Netherlands) and prof. dr. Daniel S. Pine and dr. Anderson Winkler (NIMH, Bethesda, MD, USA).

Furthermore, Miquel A. Fullana (Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) & Adult Psychiatry and Psychology Department, Institute of Neurosciences, Hospital Clínic, Barcelona, Spain) is working on a project on Fear Conditioning.
